Crisis In Our Classrooms

Survey to guard the faith of our children: first the process, then the survey.

The essential truth of the Word of God, the Holy Bible is foundational to the faith that secures salvation. Thus, the truth of Scripture must be validated by our living faith in it and in the Christ of those Scriptures in behalf of our children. We will defend their Christian faith without qualification or reservation.

SUGGESTED PROCESS:

1. A survey is taken of parents who send their children to the church Sunday School. The survey is to raise parent  awareness, to inform church staff of what their students face, and to get specific information as to what is actually happening currently in the local public schools. And, to form the basis of an action plan to address these issues. Specific suggestions follow the survey form. (A specific survey with questions and follow-up is provided below.)

2. Upon receipt of returned surveys, a sorting process is accomplished by Sunday School staff. They may be assorted by type of issue or by chronological sequence, or as seems best.

3. Summaries of findings are made by staff. These may be directed to simply explain what has happened. Or, summaries may also be used for follow-up plans.

4. Staff does its best to compile specific responses to specific prioritized issues. (Such as,  to address sexually explicit curriculum or to public school teacher generated questionable assignments or activities for students which are sponsored by the public school.)

5. Church staff will also gather resources such as books, web sites, etc to provide to parents and/or to be used by staff in possible Sunday School apologetic activities.

6. A meeting with parents and church staff is called in which staff addresses the issues raised by the survey. Also, suggestions for any proposed apologetics curriculum materials may be presented.

7. Any apologetic  curriculum should first be first sent home to parents before use in class.

8. If used, this apologetics curriculum will be evaluated by measuring the student knowledge of it, class by class, at semesters end.

9. An end-of-semester questionnaire is administered to parents to both inform them of teaching goals accomplished and to get their insights on the class for their child.
(Parents, you may wish to copy this form and use a separate one for each child of yours over whom you have legal custody. They do not have to attend a particular Sunday School class. Also, you may use a separate form to report another incident in the past which involved any of
